After teaching 4 times at basic level, I quickly get accustomed to my students. This time, I enhanced my performance developing all the activities; the students were more collaborative and behaved better than in the previous classes. The only bad thing about this class was the fact that the teacher started talking about some things she had to do with the students while I was developing my activities. That interrupted my class and the students lost attention on what they were doing. Also, at the beginning not all the students had arrived to the classroom on time; therefore, it was kind of difficult to carry out the warm up activity because I needed to form some groups and the learners weren’t enough.
So, I had to improvise and develop another activity according to the number of students I had in the classroom; at the end, everything was done successfully. I just hope that in the next level I’m going to teach; I have fewer complications with my tutor teacher and with the number of students and their behavior so that I can enrich my performance.
Well according to what you have said, I can conclude that this class was better than the other ones. What a shame on what your tutor teacher did, I mean, to interrup your class in that way. That is something that teachers do not have to do.
ReplyDeleteOne of the things most of us have faced is that not all students get on time, so that we have to "improvise" as you said, and adapt the activities to the number of students we have at the moment of starting the class.
You know what Erick... I know how it feels to get accustomed to our students and start thinking how ironic it is to leave them just when you have the power... haha
ReplyDeleteBut anyway, we have to go to another group.
I got surprised when I read that the teacher interrupted you... wooow that is very disrespectful from her... fortunately I never faced something like that with my tutors.
And talking about the warm ups, yes it is very common that they do not work properly because students arrive late.
Good luck for the next experience :D
