Today was a really nice class! I began with a funny warm up activity that all students enjoyed a lot; even my tutor teacher was laughing at some moment despite he’s kind of serious. Then, I continued with a written activity about discourse markers which was the topic being developed at that moment.
After that, I carried out a debate about different topics, but I felt kind of disappointed with this activity because some of the students didn’t like some of the topics I had prepared to talk about. I think that happens when we as teachers don’t know so deeply the beliefs and principles of the students. Nevertheless, the rest of the topics we discussed were really interesting for the students and all of them were really willing to express their opinions.
Most of the time when we do not know the students at all, we might face this problem, I mean, we might choose topics that they do not like-- but it is something that we can not avoid.. we just gotta keep on doing better...
