SECOND TEACHING!!! (ADVANCED 1)

Thurday, August 16th, 2012
Today’s class was really funny! At the beginning, I started with an activity related to narrative tenses; so, I asked the students to come to the front and make a circle. Then, I asked them to tell a story which I was supposed to start and they had to continue adding some more information to it; but it must be told in past tenses so that the learners could use simple past, past progressive, past perfect , and past perfect progressive.

All the students were really creative when telling the story and putting into practice the past structures used to narrate stories. All of them enjoyed a lot, but the most important is the fact that they put into practice oral communication while having fun! Later on, I continued my teaching with a written activity in which the students had to form groups and write a story with certain words that I wrote on the board.

Then, one member of each group had to join to another group and tell the other members the story they had written in their previous groups. Finally, I asked the students to tell something about they remembered regarding the stories they had listened to.  Several students participated and did it well when retelling the stories they had created.

  1. whenever we want to have all students involve in the class, the activities you developed are the most appropriate ones because we can have them all participate at least once. students are very creative especially the ones that are at this level as they have gotten a lot of vocabulary!!!

  3. Hi Erick! I liked the activities you did, especially the last one in which you gave some words for them to create an story, I think the best part of the activity was when you had them going to another group and share the story they were told. It seems to me that it is a great activity. I liked the way in which you had all the students involved while practicing the use of simple past, past pogressive, etc. in the written and oral form.
Giving the students some words to use when they have to create something, gives them the idea that it is going to be easier because you´re "helping" them, and in that way they give a better performance. Nice job!
