In spite of
having teaching several times until now, I felt kind of nervous in this class. I
think it was because I was with new students, new level, and it was my first
class; nevertheless, everything was carried out as I had planned it. I started
with a warm up related to clothing items and frequency adverbs. First, I made
two groups which had to help their respective representatives that were at the
front to guess some pictures related to clothing items. After the first
representative guessed the clothing items; he/she had to say a sentence using
the clothing item and a frequency adverb.
Later, I explained
the grammar part regarding the use of frequency adverbs after the verb “to be”,
and before main verbs of sentences. Everybody understood very well because I clarified
it as simple as possible. Then, I formed some groups and gave them some
exercises in which they had to identify when to use a frequency adverb after
the verb “to be”, or before the main verbs of the sentences. Everybody worked
really well and finished on time. To conclude my class, I worked on some
exercises from the students’ book and checked them all together.
