After greeting the students cordially, I opened my penultimate class with a warm up in which I asked the students to form small groups of 4 members. Then, I gave each group a flashcard containing some jobs and professions. As I had to introduce the use of Present perfect simple and Present perfect progressive, I requested each group to form some sentences using Present perfect simple/Present perfect progressive related to the jobs and professions they had in each picture.

For example:
PROFESSION: Architect
SENTENCES: I had been visiting buildings since 9 o’ clock/I had talked to other builders for 2 hours.
After each group said their sentences, the other groups had to guess the job/profession they were talking about, and the group with more correct answers was the winner.

After this, I introduced the topic giving an explanation about the use of FOR, SINCE and BEEN. I wrote on the board a chart which contained the explanation and examples of each word. Subsequently, I gave the learners some pieces of paper containing a dialogue in which they had to identify all the Present perfect simple/Present perfect progressive verbs.  Finally, I asked them to complete the appendixes the tutor teacher had provided them.
